MATERIALS | Why Our Boats Last for Years

MATERIÁLY | Proč naše lodě vydrží roky

Our boats are made from materials we developed ourselves – designed specifically to withstand everything they’ll face.

We know our boats will face years of use — sun, rocks, sand, cold, heat, carrying, unpacking, cleaning, and packing again, including moments when there’s no time for careful handling.

  • Our boats are designed to reliably serve many happy seasons
  • When needed, repairs are simple and manageable.
  • We understand that a relaxed holiday or a challenging expedition is best supported by durable, long-lasting materials that don’t require constant care, attention, or excessive caution.

And that’s exactly the kind of materials we develop at GUMOTEX.

NITRILON ®

The foundation on which most of our boats are built.

NITRILON® is GUMOTEX’s proprietary material, made from natural and synthetic rubber, specially developed for inflatable boats. We use it in models such as Palava, Baraka, Scout, and Colorado.

It is designed to:

  • Withstood abrasion from rocks and dirt as well as sand on the shore
  • Withstands prolonged exposure to sun and UV radiation
  • Not age after a few seasons
  • Work reliably even with frequent use

NITRILON® is a material designed for long-term use.

Different Variants of NITRILON® for Different Loads

Since different boats face different conditions, at GUMOTEX we have developed several variants of NITRILON®, each differing in construction, weight, and level of durability.

NITRILON® Double-Sided

A specific variant of the material with a double-sided coating of synthetic rubber. We use it in the standard versions of the Pulsar and K2 boats.

  • Developed for situations where increased mechanical and surface resistance is important

  • Suitable for situations where the boat often comes into contact with the terrain

NITRILON® EXTRA

The variant with the highest level of mechanical durability in our portfolio.

Used in the Pulsar NEX boats, which:

  • are used by rental companies, adventure agencies and professional guides

  • operate for a long time in difficult conditions

  • and need to withstand intensive use.

NITRILON® + DROP STITCH

We use DROPSTITCH technology where maximum stiffness, precision, and efficient energy transfer are crucial — typically in the hulls of the Thaya, Rush 1, Rush 2, Seashine, and Aurion models.

But this isn’t just any dropstitch.
We use our own NITRILON® + DROPSTITCH construction — a unique combination of a rubber surface and dropstitch structure that’s available only from us.

Inside the material, thousands of strong fibers hold the top and bottom layers at a precise distance, even under high pressure. This ensures the boat maintains its shape during dynamic paddling, impacts with waves, or when fully loaded.

The result is:

  • significantly higher hull stiffness

  • more efficient power transfer with every stroke

  • a stable and predictable ship shape

  • a sense of solidity comparable to rigid constructions

NITRILON® + DROPSTITCH brings precision and control without the boat losing the advantage of an inflatable construction – compactness and easy transport.

PES-PUR

We use PES-PUR material in selected parts of boats and accessories — in areas where:

  • low weight is important,

  • easy handling is required,

  • and at the same time resistance to moisture and abrasion is needed.

It serves as a functional supplement to our portfolio, not as a replacement for the main structural materials.

For Us, the Materials is the Foundation of Trust

For us, material is not an item on a spreadsheet or a marketing point.

We develop it so you don’t have to make decisions based on the weather, terrain, or whether the boat can handle it. It performs just as well on day one as it does after years of use.

So it never holds you back from experiencing what you want.
